Tapegerm Collective began in May 2000, spawned from a collaboration at homemademusic.com where loops from a selection of diy cassette albums were dropped into a pool that artists used to create new music. A group of these artists formed a collective project to share loops and evolve the resulting music over time; currently mutating into its 20th year.
Project-28: Tapegerm Archive: Private Loop Pool - Melody Whore - June 2002
Tapegerm Archive projects cull loops from the legacy Tapegerm server. The legacy server was frozen in 2015 and Tapegerm began again.
The idea behind Tapegerm was that a group of sound artists used a central server where they dropped loops, a kind of shared pool. This pool was not open to the public. Each artist committed to dropping a new set of loops into the private pool each month.
For the first time, Tapegerm is making these loops available to the public.
This project consists of loops by Melody Whore from June 2002.
