Zebra Mann Just One of Those Days
Sometimes, when you are in the mood to create, the interruptions seem to be non-stop. While modern technology can help you create wondrous things, it also has the ability to allow for many distractions. This light-hearted mix is just for laughs. Ear Goggles are highly recommended for this one. Credits: David Fuglewicz Open loops, Fluxus Fone Open loops, and a sample of my own mixes. . Genre: Humor.

Zebra Mann On the Point of a Sphere
I have been unable to decide upon a final title for this mix. I am hovering between the present one; On the Point of a Sphere and two others, Clueless in a Cube, and Triangular Stridulations. The only thing I can truly be sure of is my sincere apologies to the TapeGerm artists whose loops were used to make this particular mix. Geometry was never my strong suit. I have taken the road less traveled; Now where the HECK am I? Credits: Arthur Loves Plastic Open loops, Antigravity Workshop Open loops, loops by bf baker, Hebephrenic Open loops, International Garbageman Open loops, Loops by Hal McGee . Genre: Experimental.

Buzzsaw & The Shavings Finding Content in a Bottle of Two Buck Chuck
At length, the salutations of an irrefutable realisation are made, sense and discernment are wooed with a facility and in their motions carry me forth towards a local counter and a bottle available even to such as myself. As exercise in finding contentment ensues, and this being dreadfully difficult to capture in music programs, mixery must stand, or affect a facsimile thereof. Zebra Mann Mortality Revisited
I took two really great mixes, added a couple of ear friendly loops and blended them all together. Why it didn't turn out sounding like a handful of ball bearings thrown into a kitchen blender set on liquify is anybody's guess. It has a very somber and melacholy feel to it, so I'm hoping the next one I try is a little more uplifting. Dust off your ear goggles and crank up the volume. Credits: Mental Anguish - The Smell of Death; David Fuglewicz - Gone for Good; Buzzsaw Open loops, Heuristics Inc Open loops.. Genre: Awesome Audio.

If you really want to know, ask a zebra if its' bad dreams are nightmares. Zebra Mann Six Daze To Roam (On The Seventh We Rested)
Did you ever notice that sometimes, when you are dreaming, the conversations you have with the people in your dreams have absolutely nothing to do with the events and actions going on all around you? This mix is kind of like that. Credits: GEMAfreie-welten guest artist, CYSTEM open loops, guest artist Ed Drury, Fluxus Fone Project. Genre: Primordial Panderings.

Buzzsaw & The Shavings Whilst Aspiring to a Bottle of Château Pétrus
Perhaps dwelling in unrelenting recognition that such massive funds might beyond my capacity to achieve, sights now fasten upon Pétrus, another rare and coveted wine, frequently saluted as amongst the finest in the world, enrolled in case must command £4000 if a case be found. Once more the age that must elapse whilst amassing the princely sum is filled with composition, another long season of an illustration of patience..for the mixer and the mix-ee... I always want to make the most grimey durty stank basslines ever!!!!! Give me lots of comments and feed back, I love to hear from everyone!! Website:
I haven't been as active as before here for some time. Yet, the work and fellowship that has come outa my ongoing involvement here is a big deal to me and in part the bedrock of what I am always creating.
Lately I have been nesting at The Great Prize album @ Bandcamp . Bandcamp I recommend bigtime for simplicity and efficacy. Some of the trax on this album are in collaboration with Dave Fuglewicz.
I've put the loops I made for youse guys at Internet Archive, too, by the way.
Not sure what I'll be doing here now. I want to work from scratch again but my modus operandi has changed a great deal since I first appeared on these pages as "Datawhore". Whatever happens, Tapegerm is always very close to my robot heart.
Thanks to everyone who supplied the loops and inspiration for my last three series of mixes. A few weeks ago I mentioned something that I was going to do, but that I was leaving it as a surprise. Now is the time to say that that secret thing is my next enterprise on TG.
Here is what the Germanians can do to help. I want to chop up various finished mixes by nearly everybody on here that I admire (which is about 99% of the Germanians) and use them in my own mixes. Rather than going through the whole long drawn out process of asking each one of you individually, I am asking you as a group. Drop me a note if you agree that it's cool for me to mangle your finished works, or if it's not cool. Either way, I want to know where I stand (figuratively speaking) BEFORE I use anyone's finished mixes on TG.
If you don't want me to mangle your works, I understand. I can take NO just as easily as I can take YES as an answer. I am not ready to step on anyone's toes, if you know what I mean.
Any mixes that I used will be credited fully by title and artist, including loops used in the originals.
Just up a interview by Don Campau where I talk about the old label from back in the day of the hometaper movement scene etc. & a spotlight thing as well. Tapegerm is also included in the talk.
One of the things about cassette tapes that many home recording artists have taken advantage of is that they run continuously for long periods of time. Lots of avant-garde home recordings contain single compositions that run as long as 30 - 45 minutes. Excerpts from these extended pieces have received airplay, but rarely have the entire pieces been played on broadcast radio or even internet radio shows. So this show will feature several of these recordings all played in their entirety. Settle yourselves in for a six hour show!
All of these artists and more are included in the show:
Zan Hoffman, Dave Prescott, Alain Neffe,Conrad Schnitzler, Chris Phinney (Mental Anguish), Gen Ken Montgomery, Little Fyodor, Agog, Nick, Jeff Surak, Nadine Bal, Mike Hovancsek, John Hajeski, Keith Nicolay, Evan Cantor, Hal McGee, Brian Noring, Lord Litter, Mr. Ebu, Mike Shannon, Carl Howard, Dan Fioretti, C. Goff III.

01:23:46 "The Plastic Museum Fiasco" by Mike Hovancsek & Associates (from Spheral Tone Theory)

Since 2005, the Lo Finest program has been dedicated to the appreciation of homemade recordings that were made and distributed on cassette tapes during the 1980s and 90s, hosted by veteran home recording artist Charles Rice Goff III. Thousands of sonic artists were cranking out cassettes all over the world during the 80s and 90s. The whole cassette explosion took place long before people had home computers, the internet, email, mp3s, and all that. People found out about hometapers by reading various publications that offered reviews of tapes, by listening to those rare radio broadcasts that would feature home tapes, by sending a letter to a contact address that had been printed on one of the many compilation cassettes that were created and distributed during this period, etc. Most hometapers were not approaching their craft as a means to achieving economic success, and this allowed for some incredibly free thinking endeavors to be realized. Trading tapes was common, offering a sort of sonic cultural exchange that had never really been possible before the age of inexpensive home recording technology.
OK, I just posted my first composition using 4 tapegerm starter pack loops! Please take a listen to "Sea Monster" by Brutum Fulmen.
I have not completely figured out how to use this site, so my apologies if this is not the right place to post, etc. Feel free to let me know any tips about how things are done here! Now I need to figure out how to become a "registered" artist and find the rest of the loops.
I've got at least three things in mind for my next projects, and the Germanians will be able to hear them here first. First, I have found some written works of mine that should lend themselves nicely to a mixery project, much in the same vein as Rick Wakeman's Journey to the Center of the Earth. Second, I have decided to include Blind Mime as the next Germanian to add to my single artist experimentations, and third, well, let's leave the third one as a surprise.

Happy 2010, and thanks for all the years of attention one and all,
We're always interested in considering people for creative Guest Artist projects. If you know of someone who may be interested in being subjected to a little Tapegerm whimsy. Have them visit:
There are a dozen new loops in Blind Mime's open loop project directory. Log in to your fully activated account & go to the loop directory to get them. There is one that is really more of a backing track.
Good day Tape Germ! This is my first blog, I hope you enjoy my music, I sure enjoyed making it! I find that music is a kind of magic, with the musicians weaving spells through their intentions, turning them into sounds of emotion and pure feeling, stirring with-in people that deep primal urge, twanging upon the strings or our souls. It doesn't matter if you use an electric guitar or just use your mouth to beat box, the sounds we create in turn create the universe around us, like the proverbial butterfly beating its wings upon the drums of our souls!
Ready To Go: Spoken Word Loops Read by Lenore Herb
CATEGORY: default
My spoken word project grows now with the introduction of what will be a series of readers of my work, the first being Vancouver video artist and archivist Lenore Herb who has also done videos and remixes of my "Datawhore" material.
Up now are two versions of Slide, a take of Wave, and one of Strength. It's my intention to offer a wide range of material this year for youse guys to remix to taste.
I have a new baby in the house. One week ago, I picked up a Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula. She's a pretty little thing, and so in her honor, I am going to put together a mix that will hopefully describe how I feel about my newest pet, and to express with sound the lifestyle of eight-legged creatures. Could be a whole new genre, music for invertebrates!
I will be using various loops from several different artists, and will of course give credit where credit is due. As for the Brave New World series, I have one more chapter to put up, and then I will be looking for a new artist to dissect.
