Mad Symphony 2010 03:41/192k
A redo now that I have a Shure PG58. (I was mostly broke and confident I could make it sound good.)
And it is!
AND!
AND!
More new stuff here! More so than I blogged yesterday!
Dig in!

My Name Is Inigo Montoya (Updated!) 04:49/128k
Another experimental song, something I've been meaning to do and it's easiest for me to do with demo only loops. (Since I can't publish it for cash).
This one isn't yet complete, I'm going to add at least another minute onto it and some other beats. I am somewhat limited because I have the trial version of Acid right now. I'll be "fixing" that in a week by buying the real deal. Credits: Features the wind sample from Tapegerm's "Axel Mundi Guest Artist" loop collection. The rest of the loops are mainly from Loopmasters.com with some FX samples from Blastwave FX and vocal samples from the 80s movie "The Princess Bride.". Genre: A Fine How Do U Do. I Am Sonia (Updated!) 01:58/128k
Features scratching synth 1 from Tapegerm.com's Yuroun Guest Artic. A read of the poem "I Am" by John Clare, actual vocals by Amy G as recorded by Corsica_S on Freesound.org. The first vocal sample is from acclivity on Freesound, the last vocal piece is from ingsey101 on Freesound. The rest of the loops are from Sony's AcidPlanet 8 Packs and other loops you get from joining acidplanet.
And of course "Sonia" is my gimmick whenever I use mainly Sony free loops, especially the 8 packs. Credits: Features scratching synth 1 from Tapegerm.com's Yuroun Guest Artic. Drunk Ocelot 03:19/192k
MakeTunes is having a contest to celebrate their sponsorship by Loopmasters and is asking for electronica style mixes from the material, no hip hop, etc. Wow I'm at a disadvantage! (Just kidding)
Anyway, I decided to enter but I've been wanting to use one of the funnier vocals from Michael Cosma so I dug in with just one loop for fun.
For a limited time you can download the "megamix" with this and "Knowledge From Da Street."
Look in song lyrics for url to download! Credits: Features one voal loop from Michael Cosma Guest Artist (Tapegerm.com) and the rest were provided by Loopmasters.com to maketunes.com for their / our music enjoyment.. Genre: Abstract. Created: 01 Dec 2009 05:30 PM. Plays: 246

Robo Phonix Wurked Fur Me (Early Version) 05:20/192k
I'm going to combine my "bellydancing fembot" song with some loops I picked up from Maxamatrix and make one long robo megamix, kind of like The Fifth Horseman but with robots as the theme. I have the Cinematic Soundscapes packing coming from Digital Redux to help with that.
Enjoy this early, random in some ways, mix. Credits: A Transformers inspired song. "ComputerSynth1A" is a loop from Guest Artist Mellow Jeremy. The rest are loops from Soundtrack Loop's "Tribal Tech Beats" and weird vocal and turntableness from Peace Love Productions best of Vocals and Turntable Scratch pac. Genre: Electronica. Knowledge From Da Street 02:54/192k
I wanted to make a song with the new loop content, and I came upon the idea of making a homeless man song. So this is the result. It's meant to sound like a crazy, old man babbling and singing to the music.
And I haven't blog posted it yet, but I do have a remix of a 3rd Bass song on my website, check it out 8^)

This is a song I did for someone who remixed my vocals on CCmixter, it's just a one verse song I put together randomly around their name.
I've got a pop filter on my mic and would happily record your name or spit out a verse of some kind or another just for practice. And I do all my stuff under the CC3.0 attribution so you can sell whatever you do with what I provide. All I ask is credit.
"Chronicwise" is the only *new* pella up right now but you can see the others here. There's 22.

In related news, I'm getting the hang of Sony Acid and it's some nice software, so as soon as I upgrade and can have more than 10 tracks I'm going to kick out a few more random songs since Magix Music Maker chokes too much on high quality samples @_p;;
I'll add them to the Twelve project and I encourage people to get down to the Random 12 Loop generator you see when you log in and make some music. Throw your song into the pool and you can use ours as well. Make a tape, sell some music, make some money. Get some feedback, get some fans. Then sell more of your own stuff on your own!
David and Anguish, stop by this link and snag your album covers.

The credits sheet is now on the mixtape license page.

2)
I have more than a few regular loop sites I go to. One that doesn't get much exposure is http://www.splurgo.com Splurgo Audio. Stop by and give them a look, they have interesting bargain bin and other useful samples, cheap!

3)
Next up, how does 800 megs of hip hop loops sound?
Producer Loop has been giving out free sample packs with purchases for a while now, nothing new, but now Fat Loud has hooked up with them to give you an 800 megabyte package, FREE!!
I don't know about y'all, but I'm picking that up next week!
http://www.producerloops.com/Download-FatLoud-After-Hours-Free-800MB-Sample-Pack.html
=======
4) I've remixed a song by 3rd Bass, it's available in my free songs section. I've also added a new track, and in coming week I'll be adding new remixes of other classic material from Uptown to the B-52s 8^)
I also have a new digital album for sale, mind you, half the tracks you can get here at the moment, but in time they will disappear! I don't expect many sales yet, but I'm working on it. Nimbit seems like a nice little site for digital sales.
You can hear an early version of my P5 entry and a short version of a song I came up with using only Soundtrack Loops material.

Why I'm doing this:
==========
I also wanted to say I was given some exceptionally good customer service this week at Soundtrack loops.
http://soundtrackloops.com/
Basically whenever I find loop thieves I report them. This week was the second time I reported someone to PLP, in this case it was Soundtrack loops itself. Turns out though that Soundtrack loops is made up of former PLP guys who are getting their own thing going, so they have taken on some old PLP kits as exclusives and added their own touches to them. I had purchased one of their kits a month or so back (You heard it in "Mad Symphony" the one I rapped in) and though that it was a theft from PLP as I had a free pack with a sample of it.
They overreacted and though I had bought the old loop packs and offered me a refund or another free pack. I explained that it wasn't necessary and felt a freebie wasn't necessary.
But they insisted on the freebie, so who am I to say no twice?
So in addition to Mushroom Grooves ($12 USD) I now own Electric Street ($25 USD) from Soundtrack Loops. Both packs are great values and I'll be doing some solo-source songs for my upcoming film OST to credit them as thanks for it.
Some of these songs will be available on my site as temporary freebies until the album goes on sale. I should be putting up one fairly soon here. I did my first one minute, fifteen second long piece just using those two pacsks and it sounded very nice.
This is a mixtape, free to participate for anyone here. By participating we all get to use each other's music to sell a local mixtape. Price limit is $5, time limit expires on November 1st, 2011. All you need to participate is one contribution of a song made with Tapegerm's random 12 loop project. You can add any of your own tracks to your own CD, only those you let us use, can we use. I've made quite a number of songs available (two are in finishing stages) and will give higher bit rate copies to anyone who needs one.
It's all explained in the license agreement, and so far David Fuglewicz and Mental Anguish have agreement to participate.
It contains 6 songs from film projects coming out of my studio, Gravitywell Productions. Shtompy and the two songs after it are part of some commercial work we did for the Haunted Hotel in San Diego. The other three songs are for a short film that will be released in January. As soon as we finish buffing up our youtube account with proper credit info, I'll pass the links along!
And in the free loops section I've parsed apart more OTR and put up my amateur police scanner talk... dry no filter... course as soon as I'm done parsing apart 90 files... THEN... THEN I find the page with actual police scanner recordings on it, including the style I need. LOL.
In other news, "Todd Influenza" is not on tapegerm anymore, it is now only on my website. A new track is coming in a day or so...
1) One way or the other, I'm offering up some loops.
I can do a hick accent, a few dumb vocal hits and read and speak Spanish and Japanese.
If you want something, ANYTHING (not totally embarssing or obscene) just ask! I can rap, not that great, also sing, not that great.
My first vocal pack probably won't be acidized due to the number of files that would be involved but it will be called "used car salesman" done in a hick style voice, counting numbers and talking about parody car brands such as a 1969 Heavy Chimpala or a 1993 Tord Faurus.
I'll probably do a mini spanish pack of random dance phrases and acidize those.
As soon as I can get a few more decent pieces involved, I'm putting out a sample pack of loops made from playing a Tiger Power Tour electronic guitar. I do have a real guitar and all the goodies but it's not set up and I never learned to play the bugger to begin with. So that's not up for a few months. As soon as I can get a piano, and perhaps find some public domain (not commons, public) multisamples I'll put my keyboarding experience to practice and come out with something nicer.
==============
2) My website is in early beta, http://www.healthyinsanity.com. Songs that get removed from here that are freebies will go there. Songs that are cut in which they will be modified into more complete songs and put up for sale will go on sale there.
3) I will also be putting up some flier information etc. for the mixtape project so everyone can print out a flyer or two and post to the break room of the job you work at. Promotion is easy!
I'll be posting the final license up for us all to the website along with a list of tracks to use. So far every random 12, including the next one I'm to make will be available to use.
Please do get involved! If you're not selling tapes to people you know use this as a beta or a way to get the word out for yourself and others!
4) "Todd Influenza" has been posted to my website and will be deleted from this account soon. The only difference is there is a higher bit rate version of the song up. "Mad Symphony" will be pulled soon, to be replaced with a two verse version later. "Final Cut" will be pulled soon after, replaced with an extended version with extra vocal pieces on sale in my nimbit store along with some of the 12 X 12 pieces that will get pulled soon after it.

There are four shows there, I'm using Shangheid.

=========
So I thought about it, how's about this.
"12 X 12" is the title.
The idea is to get at least 12 of the the random 12 loop project songs together. At least 12, but I say FILL THE ALBUM!!! *cough*
Rather than just me sell this, why not everyone who participates go ahead and sell it in your own area? That way everyone involved can make a buck equally.
Let me know if you want in, I'll come up with a track list leaving everyone involved ten minutes of leeway to add in music of their own to this CD so everyone can have a personalized version of this CD for their audience.
I'm thinking the price limit should be $5.
THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL: Just my draft.

2) "Mad Orchestra" and "Final Irony" are up to be moved off of Tapegerm indefinitely for improvement and also off site hosting on my website http://www.healthyinsanity.com/
I only have a free account, so stay up on my stuff if you want all the free goodies. Eventually I will be charging digital downloads for my best stuff after I "draft" it on Tapegerm.
3) My website makes no mention of my music or the current time frame, but that will be changing in time. Announcements as soon as plans are concrete...
1) I'm putting a mixtape out in my locale. Actually I'd like to do this on a monthly or bimonthly basis. Half of the time I want to sell purely my stuff, the other half of the time I somehow want to present more than just myself. The idea of remixing music I know came to mind... but that's also more work for something I can't sell. I mean I don't mind making music just for music, but this last month I did stuff I can't do anything with. (part of my problem is a couple of my sound sites were pirating so the royalty free wasn't really royalty free 8^( )
I DIGRESS!!!
*cough*
My first CD was a remix of all Transformers music, so I can't sell ANY of that. So I gave out 26 copies to people I liked. 27 actually, I need to make another one tonight. This next one I think I want to offer free for anyone that brings me a CD-R, with a double printed sheet of paper for credits. Otherwise it would be $1.50 for one in a colored slim DVD case with printed cover and insert on a light-scribe labeled CD-R. Profit on $1.50? $16.20 for a case of 25 DVD cases, $12.96 for 20 CD-Rs. Paper cost and ink are miniscule overall, so we'll tack on one penny. $1.30 is the actual cost. It takes me an hour to put each case and CD together counting burning and cutting up the pieces. I don't think I could really call $0.20 a "profit."
The great value I aim to gain here since no one knew previously I had music in me, so to speak, is to get the audience of my co-workers and through them other people.
So if you're looking for the "sneak" value, there it is ^^;;
Otherwise, if no one jumps, I'll just do the exact same thing, just on my own ^^;;
Ultimately I want to charge $5-8 a CD. I'm thinking $5 and just produce a lot of music.
Anyone who would want to be on those CDs at that point would get a cut. I won't go into how that would work right now because that's step 3. I'm still on step 1 which is make another full album of music for myself. But at the end of this month, if anyone is willing to let me choose (and then confirm!) a song or two from their collection (or you can choose) I'd like to throw this first CD out.
*PHEW*
2) Okay, I took keyboard 1 and 2 in college. I took MIDI after that. I know about multisamples. I've got Acoustica's Beatcraft, I'm good. And I've got the ear to come up with drums... but I don't have some kind of good tutorial for coming up with them or mimicing foundation patterns.
3) Independant sound producer? People who aren't say, http://www.ProducerLoops.com with their own label and massive loop mega-store. Most of the guys I mention below, even if I fail to mention in my description, give out some kind of free loops even for commercial loops. I can't stress enough to young producers, READ THOSE LICENSE AGREEMENTS!!
Moshang! He has two loop packs, they're both free to use to have fun and even share here on Tapegerm. And it's only $10 per pack if you want to use them for money. You can download them both free. He's a nice guy!

Bedroom Producer - Forget whether it's multisamples or loops, but check it out.
http://bedroomproducers.wordpress.com/category/sample-packs/
Busty Dozen - Massive pack! The only stipulation that's abnormal for us loop junkiez is that you can't use any of their material in advertising. That's their field. They'll feed you to their lawyers if you do.
http://www.thebustydozen.com/
Palalab - I wish this dude had an e-mail so I could tell him I used his loops. But he gives out a new pack of 5 every week. All you have to do is credit him.

3AM Noise Blog - Forget what's here, check it out though.

Loop Library - Run by an EXTREMELY nice guy. He does some of the recording for Big Fish Audio. His material is very accoustic and worth checking out.
http://www.looplibrary.com/
Real Music Media - They've got a very large, free accoustic guitar pack and some very nice other packs to check out.

My first free multisample pack.
http://www.serious-sounds.net/downloads/sample-pack.html
http://www.loopsellers.com/ - Hip Hop. They are original, they're very synthy so I know these aren't yanks from someone's record collection. I run into that a lot. Not here. These are his.
Mihai Sorohan - She's got three free loop sets and two construction kits for sale, $2 a piece. They sound nice and work well.
http://www.mihaisorohan.net/downloads.shtml
Atypical Audio - Check out the free pack, donate, then check out the real thing if you're into that kind of sound!
http://www.atypicalaudio.com/glitchgumbo1.php
Maxiloops - $4 sets, or $20 for everything. I don't have this yet and can't vouch for it.
http://www.maxiloops.com/guitars.php
AcidFanatic - Also cannot vouch yet, I want the Kaos Guitar pack though myself.
http://www.acidfanatic.com/
DooleyDrums - Everyone knows Dooley! If you don't, whatcha' doing foo'!
http://www.dooleydrums.com/
Analogik - Two free sets! One is free to use, the other "Corporate Lies" requires a fee to use commercially, but you can get it and play with it if you want.
http://analogik.com/download_2007.asp
Ryan Gruss - I can't vouch yet, I want to get though.
http://ryangruss.com/?cat=14
Smokin' Joe's Harmonica Loops - DITTO!
http://www.smokinloops.com/
Tune Up Loops - AIFF format only but they sound nice. Haven't bought yet but I will in time I'm sure.
http://www.tuneuploops.com/
Hark Loops - Now this is COOL. Every site gives you demos. They give you the demo... and the construction kit for the demo free! The packs are $12 to $20 and I will get one in time I'm sure.
http://www.harkproductions.com/loops/catalog.html
Real Live Loops - Can't vouch other than that they made my list of potential purchases.
http://www.realliveloops.com/shop.html
Soonz - If you liked my first two songs, you've heard Soonz somewhere in there. Free constructions kits
4 - Next log post.... links to "major" producers you've never heard of but that are worth checking out.
...the next batch had to be put on hold since, once again, I was struck down by loop pirates selling vinyl cuts as royalty free material. So I'm going to have to clean up some of the songs I had planned for commercial release.
That sucks.
So... since I've joined here I have enough new music to keep me happy. That Random 12 thing is a good idea. And I just realized, I wanted to save the one I was looking at just a second ago but I closed the window already.
